Krissee Danger

My name is Krissee and I'm the community facilitator here at heartsupport!

I have worked with heartsupport since it was founded in 2007 and have a major heart for everything we do around here as I struggled with addiction, depression and self-injury while growing up.

I live in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada and in my spare time I like to listen to music, watch 90s feel good sports films [Space Jam, anyone?], geocache in the desert, people watch on the Las Vegas Strip and go on as many crazy adventures as possible!

You can find me on the web here, here and here!

If you ever need anything or have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at krissee@heartsupport.com!

By Krissee Danger on Mon, Nov 29, 10 at 12:24 PM | Permalink | Comments

In a mere 5 days I will run/walk the Rock n Roll Half Marathon here in Las Vegas.

To say that I am nervous about it is MORE than an understatement.

I'm confident that I can do it, I did a little [haha] walking tour of the course to prepare, so Im confident in my ability to complete it.... I guess I just can't believe it's already almost...

Disease vs. Self Control

By Krissee Danger on Thu, Nov 18, 10 at 04:47 PM | Permalink | Comments

I think that a lot of people take of issue with the whole personal responsibility vs. disease aspect when it comes to addiction.

I see this most often questioned when it comes to sex addiction and things like shopping addiction.

Newsweek did a really interesting piece on shopping addiction here and I would love to hear your thoughts, not only...

To bring you an epiphany I had this morning:

Usually, in the morning, I wake up with a profound sense of dread about the work-out that must now ensue in order to get ready to run this half marathon.

But this morning.... this morning some cosmic blip happened and I felt... excited about running today.

WHAT?!

I know. Color me shocked.

Run Update!

By Krissee Danger on Thu, Oct 21, 10 at 04:50 PM | Permalink | Comments

Hi sweet friends!

Alright, here is my first run update.

I started a few weeks ago just doing 30 minutes, power walking, 4 days per week.

Then I upped it to 35 minutes alternating walking and jogging in 3 and 5 minute intervals.

This week I am upping it yet again and trying to start running outside [now that it's cooler in the desert.]

Let's get personal...

By Krissee Danger on Fri, Oct 15, 10 at 01:35 PM | Permalink | Comments

So, I blog on heartsupport from time to time, but I find it's more in a "past tense", objective sense.

But here it is... things are about to get personal.

If we are going to truly be "community based online help" then we need to let each other know when we need help, right?

So here's the situation...

I have struggled with weight issues and...

She stole, cheated, lied, behaved in ways she never thought she was capable of.

Honest talk about sex addiction.

From Fox News...

The past few years have put a very public face on what's usually a rather private issue: sex addiction.

As a contributor to Good in Bed, and a therapist who's certified to treat sex addiction, I'm pleased that celebrities like Tiger WoodsJesse James and David Duchovnyhave come out of the shadows, and admitted they have a...

When I think about myself and my prolonged battles with addictions, I feel such a mix of emotions:

*Guilt for all of the people that I have hurt, wronged and caused to worry.

*Shame for the things I have done in pursuit of a "fix".

*Intense joy for the fact that God pulled me [and continues] to pull me out of it, against all...

We deal with all sorts of addictions. There are many things we can tell people about sex. At some point we will address aspects of sex and sexual addiction. To start, we decided to encourage people who are not married to wait to have sex.

We’re sick of seeing campaign after campaign saying; “Sex is bad!...

I found this interesting article online today, talking about how the foods that we eat today are predispositioned to make us want to eat more and more. In a phenomenon called "hyperpalatability" flavors [as well as sugars and fats] are layered upon one another in an attempt to override the brain's signal to stop eating.
