So the other night in Anaheim we did some pretty amazing things at the show.
We actually met a guy named Zach who we met through Make A Wish Foundation. He had a wish to play drums with us August Burns Red… Lets just think about that for one second.. the band that I play in, the thing I do every night of my life… playing a show on stage in front of people .. is what this kid’s wish is to do for one night. It blows my mind how much God has blessed my life and I am so grateful to be a part of what He has created through this band.
So we met up with Zach before the show, pretty sure he is 17 years old and his brother 16. Funny thing is that day was my birthday and I had been talking to my guitar tech about the statistics of another person having your birthday.. he said it was something outrageous like 1 to 20! I laughed at him, however turns out Zach’s brother’s birthday was the same day as mine…. Matt helped get his drums set to the proper settings for Zach to play them and we rehearsed for the show.
Half way through the show when it was time for Zack to play with us, I explained to the crowd that Zach was with Make a Wish and that he was going to play drums with us. I loved the crowd reaction, they cheered and then started chanting Zach! Zach! Zach! It was one of the most epic nights for me in August Burns Red. .. He killed it! He did an excellent job and he actually got a standing ovation after the song was done!
After the end of the show, me, Matt, and a few of our close friends along with Zach’s family decided we wanted to pray for Zach. So before he left we got to pray with him sign some posters and shirts and that night we made a kids wish come true.
Super encouraging and a moment I won’t forget. Thanks Zach and God Bless you.
