Peer Support Calls for Music Fans
We believe relationships have the power to heal. Connect with another music fan and grow together over the course of a year.
HOW IT HELPS YOU:
What It Means For You
When you join the program as a Peer, you’ll have a volunteer dedicated to listening and encouraging you, ensuring you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone.
These weekly calls will help you feel less overwhelmed by the struggles you encounter and provide a sense of care, reminding you that you matter.
Over the course of a year, you'll meet every week and experience real improvements in your life.
Our supporters have faced and overcome their own mental health struggles, so you don’t have to navigate it alone.
You can share anything without fear of being a burden, knowing they’re here to listen and help.
Each supporter is trained by research and HeartSupport staff, so you can trust in the relationship you’ll build together. Over time, these healthy relationships can be a powerful source of healing for you.

BACKED BY RESEARCH:
Why It Works
Research shows these four practices improve your mental health:
-
You’ll be paired with a peer supporter who has exceptional empathy and compassion and is highly trained in listening.
-
You’ll be paired with a peer supporter who has confidence in their own mental health and can relate to the struggles that you face.
-
You’ll be paired with a peer supporter who will accept and love you regardless of who you love, the color of your skin, what you believe, what you’ve done, or what’s been done to you.
-
You’ll be paired with a peer supporter who can help you see the difficulties in life from a different and encouraging perspective.

OUR PLANNING:
Ensuring The Program Works For You
We pair you and your Supporter with a staff member whose role is to ensure your experience goes smoothly and is impactful.
Every month they check in with you and your supporter to ensure that your relationship is developing, your conversations feel meaningful and that you have everything you need.
They advocate for you, celebrate your progress with you, and help handle any issues that you experience in the process.
LIMITATIONS:
What This Isn’t
It is important to know the limitations of this program. Please take note of the details below.
What This Program Is
The Support Calls Program exists to ensure that no one has to face life's hardest moments alone. As a volunteer, you'll be matched one-on-one with a Peer from the music community who needs encouragement and connection.
Through weekly calls and regular check-ins, you'll offer them a consistent, judgment-free space to be heard and valued. Your role is simple but powerful: to listen, to show up, and to be a steady source of friendship and encouragement as they navigate their own journey. Along the way, a dedicated staff member will be there to guide and support both you and your Peer, so you're never navigating this alone either.
What This Program Isn’t
While this program offers meaningful support, it's important to understand what it's not designed to be. This is not a crisis line. If a Peer is in immediate danger, your role is to point them toward crisis resources and alert our staff, who are prepared to handle those situations. It is also not therapy or life coaching.
Regardless of your personal or professional background, you won't be diagnosing, advising, or problem-solving. You're here as a friend and listener, not an expert or director. Peer support is a powerful complement to professional care, but it works best when its boundaries are respected and those boundaries are what make it a safe, healing experience for everyone involved.

Meet every week with your supporter to talk about your life. Highs, lows and everything in between. They’re here to help you process those things and grow in confidence in handling it all.
-
That’s a normal part of the process. Sometimes it’s hard to talk to people we don’t know or even know what’s “wrong” with our lives to be able to share.
Supporters help you get talking and, over time, as your relationship develops, those conversations get deeper and more impactful.
The important part is to keep showing up.
-
HeartSupport staff will check in with you every month and help address any issues you’re facing. You’re safe to voice those feelings, and you’ll have an advocate who will help solve any problems that arise.
