HeartSupport and Furnace Fest 2026: Support through the storms

Furnace Fest 2026 was marked by historic headlining sets packed with throwbacks from A Day To Remember and Bring Me the Horizon.

That on-stage ferocity was matched by the weather: massive storms created uncontrollable challenges for many attendees. The storms of life are exactly where HeartSupport likes to show up.

HeartSupport’s Furnace Fest team had to pivot at the last minute to a new location for the Support Wall because of partially flooded grounds. They were in the perfect position to meet festival attendees who had also had to be flexible around the weather. As fans flooded into the rain-soaked festival grounds, HeartSupport’s team was ready to meet them with the chance to share their experiences and offer each other support.

Fans immediately started doing exactly that.

Mark (an alias) found home far away from home at Furnace Fest’s HeartSupport booth. Mark is from Eastern Europe, and he is temporarily in the United States for work. It’s been a lonely time for him, far from familiarity and anyone he knows. But in the HeartSupport community, he wasn’t alone anymore.

He opened up on the wall, sharing how isolating it has been for him to live in an unfamiliar country. Mark put his tile on the wall and went to catch some bands.

Other fans started writing responses. As fate would have it, Mark happened to come back while one of them was writing.

“After the fan was done writing their response to Mark’s red tile, Mark approached them,

sparking a long and heartfelt discussion about mental health, healing, and the power

that music has to be there through all of it,” one of the HeartSupport volunteer team members said of the moment. “Through HeartSupport, they exchanged contacts and will now stay connected post-festival to have long-term support based around music and growing together. Mark expressed that finding HeartSupport at Furnace Fest was like finding his first breath of fresh air in the midst of a very lonely time in his life.”

The storm of being isolated far from home wasn’t the only one being weathered that weekend.

Another fan opened up with a heart-rending story on a red tile: “I proposed to my wife here in 2021. She passed last year. I feel alone. Life feels meaningless. But I’m trying. I miss her until eternity.”

That kind of hurricane might have felt too intense for some places; grief is often stigmatized and silenced. But it wasn’t too much for the Furnace Fest attendees who sought out the HeartSupport booth.

Some of the responses:

“My husband died in 2017. We had a 2-year-old. It never gets less painful, but time will dull it. You will find love again. Today is in their memory.”

“I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I couldn’t imagine how you feel. We’re here for you. You are not alone, even if it feels like it. God is with you, bringing you on his path. We love you!”

Another attendee, one who had been part of the HeartSupport community for years, also opened up on the Support Wall about losing a friend to an overdose. Responders showed up to support him too.

“He was so thankful to see that we were there, expressing how much HeartSupport has meant to him while dealing with his own grief, and knowing how we could bring healing to countless others at Furnace Fest,” a HeartSupport volunteer who talked to him shared.

Overall, HeartSupport’s team of volunteers talked to over 500 fans about mental health resources. No storm was too big or too small for the community to navigate together.

Whether in loneliness or loss or just the everyday stress of logistical challenges, everyone who stopped by HeartSupport’s booth got to help build that communal resilience.

HeartSupport is able to be present in crucial moments like this to facilitate connection and healing because donors give what they can to make sure our presence on the ground is funded. Your donation today could mean someone’s healing at another festival next year!
